I recently had a client comment "I love the pictures of the kids faces looking up at you. I can't figure out why I like that so much." Well, I told her why I love that pose and she said "That's it!"
Here's what I told her. That is how you see your little one a thousand times a day. Looking up at you with big eyes. Be it a tearful pout or a big ol' grin, that is, for the most part, how you view them. From above. Before long, your child will be able to look at you face to face. If you're a short mom like me, it will be all too soon when they are able to look down at you.
Those photos remind me of a phrase from one of my favorite poems.
It's from "Bartar" by Sarah Teasdale.
Life has loveliness to sell
All beautiful and splendid things
Blue waves whitened on a cliff
Soaring fire that sways and sings
And children's faces looking up
Holding wonder like a cup.
And here's my G. The way I see him.
I know what you're really here for is the contest, not my sentimental ramblings. So here it is. Again, you need to be the first person to leave a comment on this post to win. You must be a new client, meaning you have never had a session with me and do not currently have one booked. You will win a free regular session with me sometime in Feb. or March, plus a free 8x10 print of your child "looking up." SO, if you're a blog stalker and you have a friend who's been putting off a session, it might be worth a phone call!

I'm commenting but not for the contest, since I know I couldn't get down there in time!
What a beautiful poem and what great reasoning behind the pose - I love those shots too, but had never stopped to think why. Thanks for capturing the feeling for me. :)
Well I wish you could Janice, but yeah, I think that'd be a long trip!

Thanks for stalking! The session is yours if you want since you've never had one.
Oh my, you have me in tears! The reason for that being such a precious pose is just as you said. By the way, C says she "needs that picture of G for a frame in her room." She thinks he looks "too cute!"
I just love those pictures, too!!!
You are so right on with your poem and that pose! I love it! G is getting SO big! And I hope you are feeling well! Best Wishes!
